SideKick
Supplier :
- Ultra-High Vacuum.
- Low Vibrations.
- Huge sample space, low footprint
The SideKick offer huge sample space under UHV, with surfaces outgassed before cool-down. Avoiding sample and windows getting covered with ice and allow to stay cold longer.
The SideKick relocates the cryocooler directly to the floor, removing energy and freeing up optical table
ABOUT
SYSTEM FEATURES
Low-Vibrations, Low-Accelerations
Utilizing many novel vibration isolation techniques.
Such systems have been designed, built, and delivered to enable research in demanding applications such as Scanning Probe Microscopy (SPM), Atomic Force Microscopy (AFM), and time-sensitive micro cavity research
High cooling power
Thanks to its off-table cold head architecture and thermal-link technology, you can use high-power cold heads without injecting noise into your experimental setup. Up to 300 mW @ 4.2 K.
UHV Performance
The SideKick boast industry leading vacuum performan,ce through a unique differentially pumped double seal design that ensure pristine UHV environment. You can run your experiment for months with no drift in experimental conditions.
Wide sample space
Configurable sample space up to 200 mm wide and 300 mm high. 9 optical acces as standard, and up to 40 RF and 200 DC lines. Optional all–mu-metal sample space.
Maximum Configurability
Vector magnet with 110mm bore size, Low vibration insert for SPM (0,1nm PTP<), applications with nanopositioners, diamond anvil cell, integrated baekout hardware, turnkey photonic probe station.
Ultra-long-lasting experiments
Thanks to its “chamber within a chamber” design, some of our customers have had their SideKick continuously cold for over a year, without any deterioration in experimental conditions.

“Congrats Four Nine Design on building a stellar line of (truly) low vibration cryostats. We hard bolted this Renaissance Scientific STM to the 4K plate. Four Nine Design is one of the RARE companies that understands that 'low vibrations' doesn't just mean low displacements on their own cold finger. Accelerations are much more pertinent. Four Nine Design gets this and we love them for it.”
“We love Four Nine Design cryostats. Most cryostat vendors get their UHV for free from cryo pumping, so they take liberties with greases, and varnishes, and other swamp algae that should never be there. Not FND. They get to UHV by baking, so before any cryo pumping. The Ren-Sci UHV magnet has a natural home here. If you open your cryostat and it smells, that's a swamp vessel. Never happens with 49 cryostats. UHV clean! »
When we launched Qnity, Four9 was the first manufacturer that came to mind. We had spent months admiring their cryostats in our spare time, and now we are proud to represent their exceptional products.
The SideKick is the only table-top cryostat on the market that has really been designed for quantum applications. General-purpose table-top cryostats draw a vacuum at room temperature down to 1.10-3 Torr and then reach 1.10-6 Torr by cryo-pumping, i.e. solidification of residual gas in the sample chamber.
Interaction of the sample (e.g. a trapped ion or cold atom) with these solidified residual gases induces strong experimental perturbations such as qubit decoherence. The SideKick doesn’t cheat, it get to UHV (1.10-8 Torr) by backing and thanks to its patented differential pumping technology, before reaches 1.10-11 Torr by cryo-pumping.
The result is a clean vacuum for very long experiments with no residual solid matter.
All this with a very small footprint on the optical table, as the cryogenic infrastructure is out of the way.
With SideKick architecture, the cold head and side tower are placed on the floor. Unwanted vibratory energy from the closed-cycle cryocooler remains away from the table. The table is free to float on pneumatic feet as it normally would.
